What are capital payments?
Capital payments are one-off payments that you receive from a pension plan. These include benefits from occupational pension plans (2nd pillar/pension fund), from a vested benefits account or vested benefits policy, from pillar 3a, and capital benefits in the event of death or permanent health impairment.
Capital payments from your employer that are of a pension nature are also included.
Capital payments from pension plans are generally 100% taxable. However, they are not taxed together with your taxable income, but are calculated separately – independently of your tax return.
Examples
In 2025, you withdraw your assets from pillar 3a. This amount is fully taxable and is taxed separately. Even though the amount is taxed separately and independently of your tax return, you must still include it in your tax return for information purposes.
How to declare it in iqtax
Open Capital payments and enter the issuing authority, the amount, and the payment date.
If you have received multiple capital payments, enter the total amount and upload the relevant certificates.
