What are securities?
Securities are assets such as bank accounts, savings accounts, salary accounts, shares, bonds, investment funds or other domestic and foreign investments.
You must report your assets and the income generated from them as of 31 December of the tax year. This includes, for example, interest or dividends. You must report your assets, those of your spouse and those of your minor children. Adult children declare their assets themselves.
You do not need to report pension fund assets, vested benefits accounts or Pillar 3a assets. These remain tax-exempt until payout and do not need to be included in your tax return.
Examples
You have a savings account with CHF 15'000 and receive interest. The account balance as of 31 December and the interest must be reported.
You own shares with dividends. The asset value as of 31 December and the dividends received must be reported.
Your pension fund balance or Pillar 3a assets do not need to be reported.
Document
For bank accounts, you need the balance confirmation as of 31 December. For your portfolios, you need the tax statement. The documents can be downloaded from your e-banking.
How to add it in iqtax
Open Securities and upload your e-tax statement or enter your bank accounts and securities manually.
Enter the assets as of 31 December and the income generated and upload the corresponding documents.
