When creating a manually marked task, authors can choose from a set of marking templates.
These marking templates set the marking options available to facilitators and coaches.
Overview of the facilitator marking view
To understand which marking template to choose, you need to have a mental image of what facilitator marking view.
When a facilitator opens a task to give feedback or mark, they see:

The learner's response
The facilitator marking where they set the mark (e.g. complete, percentage) and possibly add feedback (e.g. text, audio, file).
The exact options a facilitator sees in the facilitator marking area depend on the marking template set by the author.
