How to add a reference to a text element

Authors can add references to text to give attribution or cite sources.

Authors can add references to text to give attribution or cite sources.

Where there is a reference, learners see three dots and can select them to view the full details of the reference.

How to add a reference to text

To add a reference to your learning content:

  1. Within a text element, select Reference in the toolbar.

  2. Add your reference in the space provided.
    You can use bold or italics to align with a particular referencing method.

    You can also use the chain (Link) to add a link within your reference.

  3. Save your reference. You'll see a grey square with a reference number. Something like: fnref123456

  4. Save the text element to see a preview of your reference as learners will see it.

How to remove a reference from text

To delete a reference:

  1. Edit the text element with the reference.

  2. Select the grey square (with something like: fnref123456) that contains the reference.

  3. Delete.
