Description
Jamf Now communicates with managed devices using the Apple Push Notifications service (APNs). In order for communication to be successful, the APNs certificate in Jamf Now must be the same as the certificate when devices enrolled. We can verify this by comparing the Topic ID.
Finding the Topic ID on Managed Macs
To find the Topic ID of a macOS MDM profile for APNs troubleshooting, follow these steps:
Locate the Enrollment Profile on the device.
Double click on the Company Enrollment profile to open it.
Scroll down to the Topic section of the enrollment profile.
Finding the Topic ID on Managed iOS or iPadOS Devices
To find the Topic ID of the iOS/iPadOS MDM profile for APNs troubleshooting, follow these steps:
Navigate to Company Enrollment.
Click on More Details.
Select Mobile Device Management.
Locate the Topic value.
Comparing the Topic to Verify Communication Status
Compare the Topic on the Enrollment/MDM profile to the Topic found in Jamf Now under APNS > Topic.
If they match, the device should be able to communicate via APNs and check in with Jamf Now.
