Tax Refunds Made Easy: How Automatic Reporting Works

Updated this week

End the Paperwork: Tax Refunds in a Click

Starting December 12, 2023, getting a tax refund on donations is faster and easier than ever. We transfer your donation details directly to the Israeli Tax Authority's digital system.

What’s in it for you? You can say goodbye to collecting receipts. All you need to do is approve the data transfer when you donate, and the information is sent automatically to your personal file at the Tax Authority. The service is free!

How it Works (Step by Step)

  1. Enter Jgive and make a donation.

  2. On the details screen, check the box confirming you agree to transfer data to the Tax Authority.

  3. We transfer the data based on the ID number of the credit card holder.

  4. Paying with someone else's card (e.g., a spouse)?

  5. Click on I want a different name and ID number on the receipt.

  6. Enter the details of the person claiming the tax refund. [Add screenshot of: Name and ID edit fields]

  7. Complete the donation.

What Exactly is Sent to the Tax Authority?

We only transfer the details that appear on the receipt and are required for identification:

  • Full Name and ID Number.

  • Email Address.

  • Donation Date and Amount.

  • Organization Name and Receipt Number.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the money deposited into my account automatically? No. We transfer the paperwork (the data). To get the money, you must log in to the Tax Authority website and submit a refund request (a much shorter process than before).

  • What happens if I choose not to share my details? Starting in 2024, a donation that is not reported is considered "Anonymous." Meaning: You will not be able to claim a tax refund for it, even if you have a receipt.

  • I made a mistake or changed my mind, can I fix it? No. If a receipt was issued as "Anonymous," it cannot be changed retroactively. The Solution: Contact us to cancel (refund) the donation and make a new one with the correct details.

  • I donated to a charity outside of Jgive , will it appear? We don't know. On Jgive , it is 100% guaranteed. For direct donations to charities, it depends on whether that charity is connected to the Tax Authority's system.

  • I get tax credit through my salary slip (payslip), does this matter? Yes. If your employer processes your donation tax credit, we mark this in the report to the Tax Authority to prevent double taxation.

Past Receipts (2023 and earlier)

Where can I find a "Concentrated Receipt" (Annual Summary)? We no longer generate a single document summarizing all donations. Instead, all original receipts are waiting for you in your email inbox (sent automatically immediately after each donation).

Do I still get receipts via email? Yes! You will receive a receipt (original and copy) via email immediately after every donation, just like always. Keep these emails for your records.

How do I claim a refund for 2023 donations? For donations made in 2023 (before the full automatic system), you must submit a request manually on the Tax Authority website. You will need to collect the receipts sent to your email during that year.

Information for Non-Profits (Charities)

We are a charity on Jgive , can we opt-out? No. Jgive`s terms of use require reporting to the Tax Authority for the benefit of the donors.

How do we connect to the Tax Authority independently? If you collect donations outside of Jgive as well, please contact: Donations@taxes.gov.il.

For further questions, feel free to reach out to us at support@jgive.com.

*Except for donors who actively instruct Jgive not to transfer their donation details.
