There is quite a bit of data on trees to capture - but we're here to make it as simple as possible!
1. Pick what you’re adding
Look at the green button at the top-left which should be set to say "add tree". Tap/click it and choose:
Tree – big plant with a trunk
Shrub – small bush (if the stem is smaller than a 7.5 cm coin across).
(Shrubs don’t count as trees in this tool.)
Stump – a tree that has been removed.
2. Pick what you’re adding
Tap/click where the tree (or stump/shrub) is. That’s it!
3. How thick is the trunk?
The tool will ask for the diameter (how wide the trunk is). There's a guide here.
4. Draw the canopy
You’ll be asked to draw the canopy—that’s the leafy top.
Click/tap around to make a shape as best you can.
The tool shows you two choices:
Auto-drawn (the computer tidies your canopy), or
Keep custom (use the shape you drew).
Pick the one you like.
How tall is it?
Choose the height. There is a guide here.
