We're excited to bring you an expanded reporting experience. If you don't see the reporting features described below, don't worry—this updated reporting experience will become available to your account over time.
Overview
Boulevard reports provide configuration tools that allow you to adjust and refine the data you're seeing in order to better understand business performance and trends.
Note: Only individual reports can be customized and saved. Business summary and Sales summary dashboards can be filtered, but you cannot save a custom view, at this time. Instead, any filter you apply to these dashboards is sticky on a per-user basis. For example, if a dashboard's default filter is Last week and you change it to Last year, it will still show Last year the next time you log in — until you change it again.
Customizing Reports
To customize your report, click Customize in the top right corner.
Use the right sidebar to control how your report is organized and what data it displays. The available options vary by report.
Group By lets you organize your report data into categories. Each field you add here determines how your data is grouped.
Columns let you choose which fields appear in your report and how they're arranged. Each field you add here defines what data is shown.
To adjust the fields in either section, click the plus icon in the top right corner and use the dropdown list to review the available data points. Scroll through the list of options shown, or use the search bar to locate specific fields.
The report will update dynamically as you apply customizations. Once finalized, click >> (above Customize in the right sidebar) to view your updated report.
Tip: We recommend keeping your report to three or fewer Group By fields unless you have a specific need for more. Adding additional fields can increase report load times and make the results harder to read and act on.
Adding Fields
To add fields in either section, click the plus icon in the top right corner, locate the field in the list shown, select the checkbox next to it.
You can add one or multiple fields at once, or deselect a checkbox for an existing field to remove it while adding separate ones. Once complete, click Apply to add the fields and view your updated report.
Note: Each field can only be used once in a report customization. You can add a field in either the Group By or Columns sections, but not both at the same time. If a field appears grayed out in one section, it's because it's already being used in the other. To use the field in the other section, remove it from its current location first.
Removing Fields
To remove a field, hover over a field applied in Group By or Columns, and click the trash icon that appears on the right.
Note: Some fields are required for a report to populate meaningful data and cannot be removed. Required fields vary by report — in some cases, a report may require at least one of two specific fields to remain active.
If a field is required, the trash icon next to it will be greyed out and won't let you remove it. If you're removing a field while adding or customizing others from the dropdown list, its checkbox will also appear greyed out and can't be deselected. If you try to remove a required field, a message will appear letting you know which field(s) are needed.
Reorganizing Fields
You can also reorganize your report and change the order in which data points are shown on it. Hover over a field applied in Group By or Columns, click the two-line icon and drag it to the desired position within that same section. Reorganization changes apply automatically, so feel free to experiment to find the configuration that works best for you.
Note: You can't move a metric from one section to another (i.e., from Group By to Columns) by dragging and dropping.
Sorting Report Data
To sort your report data, click any column name at the top of the report. The report will automatically sort based on the data in that column (i.e., alphabetically, by ascending or descending value, etc.).
Note: Sorting only applies while you're actively viewing the report and is not saved as part of a report view.
Filtering Reports
To filter your report, click Add filters at the top of the report. Use the dropdown to view the available filter options for that report. Select a filter to set its parameters, then click Apply to save it. Once applied, your report data will update automatically.
Note: When applying multiple filters, you'll only see report data that meets the conditions of all filters applied. If limited data is shown, adjust or remove your filters.
To remove a specific filter, click X. To remove all filters, click Clear All.
Report Views
Report views let you save customized versions of a report — including your grouping, filtering, and column selections — so you can return to them without reconfiguring each time. Views can be kept private to you, or published for everyone else in the business to use.
Note: Report views are saved to the report you created them on, but every view you own or have access to can also be found under Views.
Creating Report Views
Once you've applied filters and customizations to a report, you can:
View or export the customized report without saving those settings
Click Discard to remove your customizations and return the report to its original state
If you exported a view that you didn’t want to save, you will have to discard the view before moving to a different report.
Click Save view to save your customizations as a new report view:
Visibility— choose Private view (only visible to you) or Business view (visible to everyone with access to this report)
View name — enter a name that clearly identifies the view
Description (optional) — add a description to help others recognize what the view is for; this becomes required if you select Business view.
Your saved custom view automatically opens each time you access the report, and its name appears next to the report name so you can easily identify which view you're using.
Note: Business views are visible to every staff member with access to the report — see Views to review how published views appear to others and are managed.
Switching Between Report Views
You can always switch back to the Default view to see the report in its original out-of-the-box state.
To switch between views, click the arrow next to the name of the current report view. This opens a dropdown showing the default view and any views you've saved, allowing you to switch between them freely.
Managing Report Views
To manage a saved report view, click the three-dot menu next to the view name and select:
Rename view — update the view's name
Edit description — add or update the view's description
Change visibility — switch a view between Private and Business
Delete view — permanently remove the view
Note: Only the view's owner can manage it. If a Business view's owner leaves the business, an admin can take ownership — see Views for details.
The default view cannot be renamed or deleted and always appears as Default in the view dropdown. If you delete your saved custom view, the report will revert to the Default view the next time you open it.
Downloading and Exporting Reports
You can download and export your report data directly from the report. Click the export button in the top right corner to export the report to one of the following file types: Excel, CSV, PDF, PNG.
Note: You can make temporary changes to your view without saving it at any time. Once those changes are made, you can even export and then discard it so your custom view stays intact and you can move on to a different report.
