Introduction πŸ‘‹


Applying the components of existing Juro templates to an uploaded document doesn't just give you back the time spent customising documents one by one; it further enriches your data repository by aligning new documents with the data points you've deemed essential to your contract flow.

Juro allows you to upload Word and PDF files as the starting point for your contracts. In a few simple steps, your document will be ready to send for signing.


Uploading files ⬆️


To get started, import your document into Juro. To do this:

1. On your Contracts homepage, click + Add document and then Upload from your computer.

2. Drag and drop the document into the upload portal, or click select from your computer to select it from your desktop.

3. Select the template you'd like to upload the file against and click Continue

OR

if you don't want to apply the parameters of an existing template, click Skip (you will be redirected to your document if you select this option).


Not seeing your template in the list? Ensure that the template is published.

4. If you chose a template for your upload, fill in the relevant smartfields at the tagging stage. Once you're finished, click Continue tagging. You will now be redirected to your document.

If you'd prefer to fill these fields later, click Skip tagging instead.

Word files must be sent through Juro's signing flow to update the status further (e.g. to FULLY SIGNED).

In the case of PDF documents, clicking the UPLOADED status will update it to FULLY SIGNED, and vice versa:

If you upload a PDF against a template with pre-defined signatories and/or approvers, you must remove these to change the status.

You can also configure your Contract reader settings to give PDF documents the FULLY SIGNED status post-upload. We'll look at this in more detail below.


Working with a Word file post-upload πŸ“


When you upload a Word file into Juro, there are two flows to choose from:

1. Maintaining the exact formatting from the original file:

By default, your document will be imported with nearly identical formatting from Word. If you'd like to maintain this formatting in Juro, the document will behave more like a PDF: the text is not editable but smartfields and signature blocks can be added as needed. We recommend leaving space for these in the original file (see below).

2. Converting the file to be editable on Juro's editor: To do this, click Edit and then, in the window that appears, Convert.

Doing this will give you the full formatting flexibility offered by Juro's editor. This may affect the formatting applied in Word, and the document can be restored to the original at any time.

πŸ’‘ NOTE: Reverting to the original version will remove any editing or formatting applied in the Juro editor.

Working with your Word upload in this way, you can edit text directly, add smartfields and reformat your document using the formatting bar.

All documents uploaded to Juro will, by default, show a UPLOADED status; akin to the regular DRAFT status you see when you create a contract in Juro. If the file has been uploaded against a template with pre-assigned signatories or approvers, the status will show for these users as TO SIGN and TO APPROVE respectively.

If you add signatory information in the SIGNATORIES section, linked signature blocks will automatically appear at the bottom of the document. For templates with Signature links already added, you'll need to drag and drop these where you need them on the document.

For documents with a template assigned, the smartfields for this template will show as normal in the SMARTFIELDS tab. These will need to be added to where you need them on the contract.

As with Juro-created contracts, Word files must be sent through Juro's signing flow to update the status further (e.g. to FULLY SIGNED).


Working with a PDF file post-upload πŸ“


Working with a PDF upload is slightly different from working with a Juro-created contract or Word upload, but it's just as straightforward. Whether you're working with an internal document or one sent to you by a third party, there are just a few easy steps to follow.


Uploading single PDF files ☝️


When you upload a single PDF file into Juro, you'll be directed straight to the document after the tagging stage. This will have its status set to UPLOADED.

The document's name will be the original file name, which you can update by clicking on the text and typing a new name.


Uploading multiple PDF files πŸ”


To import multiple files, you can multi-select these from your desktop during the uploading process (for Windows users: select 1 document, then hold CTRL while you select the others. For Mac users: select 1 document, then hold CMD while you select the others.)

Juro will process these documents and provide status updates along the way.

When the upload is complete, the documents will be added to both your Contracts

homepage and a dedicated dashboard (or 'table view', as we call them).

Readying a PDF upload for signature πŸ–¨οΈ



Adding smartfields to a PDF upload πŸ”˜


Juro's Contract reader parses information from PDF uploads and will create smartfields from the data it identifies. You can learn more about adding additional custom smartfields to your PDF here.

Unlike Juro-created contracts, smartfields applied to PDF uploads require manual placement.

If, when we are uploading the PDF into Juro, we choose to skip the template selection part of the upload workflow, we can add smartfields from a published template later on.

To do this:

1. Click the Smartfields icon to open the SMARTFIELDS tab.

2. Click the 3 dots to the right of the SYSTEM SMARTFIELDS heading and select Add smartfields from.

When these dots aren't visible, it indicates that you have already imported smartfields from another template.


Adding signatories to a PDF upload ✍️


Signatories can be added to PDF uploads in the same way as they can be on a contract created in Juro. You can learn more about this here.

Like smartfields, signature blocks on a PDF document must be dragged and dropped onto the document. With PDFs, however, they must also be aligned manually by the user. Juro's formatting marker will help you to do this so that the blocks line up with one another.


The Contract reader πŸ”­


In the Contract reader tab of your Settings, there are a few other processes you can automate for your uploads.


Selecting a default template for your uploads πŸ€


Instead of selecting your template each time, you can assign a default one to apply to your uploads.

To do this:

1. In your Settings, open the Contract reader tab and turn on the Add data from template toggle.

2. Select your template and the data points you'd like to apply to your uploads.

Any documents you upload after enabling this will now have the parameters of the selected template applied.

Marking all PDF uploads as FULLY SIGNED πŸ€–


In the Contract reader, you can also configure your workspace to automatically assign the FULLY SIGNED status to all PDF uploads (you can still change individual statuses later by clicking on the status bar of the relevant contract).

To do this:

1. In your Settings, open the Contract reader tab and turn on the Set 'Fully Signed' toggle.


'Disabled text search' message πŸ’¬


When you upload a PDF file to Juro, you may see the following notification:

This error confirms that your browser isn't loading the PDF text quickly enough for us to guarantee a complete search of the file when using Ctrl + F or Cmd + F.

To give our users greater certainty over whether a document has been fully searched, we disable search on any documents where only a partial search is possible.

There are three possible solutions to this issue:

  • Use a different browser

  • free up system resources by closing other apps.

  • Upgrade your hardware.

You can still search for your document and smartfields using the Juro search bar.
