Rubrics in Kira are AI-generated, standards-aligned, and fully customizable. Whether you're starting from a prompt or aligning with standards, here’s how to create one in just a few clicks.
Step 1: Open the Rubric Generator
You can launch the Rubric Generator in two ways:
From the Dashboard: Click the “Rubric Generator” shortcut.
From the AI Tools Menu: Navigate to Create > AI Tools, then select Rubric Generator.
Step 2: Choose Your Rubric Type
You’ll be prompted to choose how you’d like to build your rubric. Pick one of the following:
Align to a Standard – Ideal for state-aligned assessments.
Create from a Prompt – Describe the task and let Kira build the rest.
Build from an Activity – Use an existing activity in your library as the base.
Step 3: Enter Contextual Details
If you selected “Align to a Standard” or “Create from a Prompt,” you’ll be asked to specify:
Subject
State
Grade
Concept
This helps Kira generate accurate, aligned criteria.
Step 4: Select Criteria (for standards-aligned rubrics only)
If you’re aligning to a standard, Kira will show a list of relevant criteria. You can:
Select up to 5 criteria
Then click Next
Step 5: Set Points and Levels
Customize your rubric with:
Total number of points
Number of scoring levelsOption to check for AI use or plagiarism in the assignment
Once everything is set, click Next.
Step 6: Create Your Rubric
Click the Create button. Kira will generate your rubric in seconds
Step 7: View, Rename, and Save
Your rubric will:
Display on screen immediately
Automatically save to your Rubric Library
Be editable—you can rename it by clicking the pencil icon next to the title
