Note: This update only applies to NGSS The Living Earth: Integrating Biology and Earth Science and NGSS Earth and Space Science only.

Based on feedback from teachers and a thorough review by our Content Team, we’ve identified that some lessons could benefit from additional hands-on labs. To address this, a new inactive lesson titled ‘Supplemental Lab’ will be added to the relevant modules. This inactive lesson will be placed after the Performance Task (PT) lesson. For example, in ESS 3.4, the supplemental lab will be added after the PT. The actual lab content will then be uploaded as an option for teachers to use.

These Hands-On Labs will be printable for in-class use.

Key Points:

  • Biology and Earth and Space Science will each receive 10 new hands-on labs, totaling 20 new labs collectively.

  • These labs are supplemental and are optional. Teachers can use them if they wish to add a hands-on activity to the lesson, but they are not required to complete the lesson.

  • The labs are text-based and designed for in-classroom activities. They were not created as interactive platform labs.

  • The labs will not be embedded within the lessons but will be added at the module level.
