Note: This article references IB DP exam-style questions. For IGCSE, these are called 'Test practice questions'.
The exam-style questions follow the style of the written answer section of exams. Here you can test how well you can apply the theory in a real exam scenario.
Which exam-style questions can I see?
Your teacher decides which exam-style questions are available to you. Questions become available in two ways:
Assigned questions: When your teacher sends you an exam-style question assignment, you answer it through the assignment. After that, the questions also stay available for you to practise again.
Questions unlocked for practice: Your teacher can also unlock extra questions for you to practise on your own, without an assignment.
Some questions may stay locked because your teacher is saving them for future assignments, mock exams or assessments. For each question, you can see its paper, topic and marks.
Practising a question
Pick the topic you would like to test yourself on and open a question.
Read the question and write your answer directly in Kognity.
Click Submit when you're done.
You can attempt the same question as many times as you like, so you can come back to it later for revision.
Tip: If you'd like to practise your handwriting or work under exam conditions, you can still write your answer on paper first and time yourself, then type or submit your final answer.
Checking your answer with the mark scheme
Your teacher chooses whether the mark scheme is available for each question. If it is, you can view it after you submit your attempt by clicking "Marking". You can then compare your answer with the example answer and marking guidance, and try again.
If the mark scheme isn't shown, your teacher has chosen to keep it hidden for that question.
Can my teacher see my practice?
Yes. Your teacher can see the answers you submit when you practise on your own. They don't have to score these, but you can ask them for feedback if you get stuck.
The questions, example answers, and marking guidance in this section are written by the authors and may not reflect the way that marks are awarded in an examination. However, we do recruit experienced people to design our material.
