What happens when I send the assignment?

When the deadline has passed, the assignment will be automatically marked and a report with the assignment results will be sent to your email.

The assignment results will be available in the Insights tab, where you can track student performance and progress in more detail.

Students answer online: Students write and submit their answers directly in Kognity. Where a question allows it, they can also upload an image, such as a drawing or an annotated diagram.

AI suggested scoring (beta): When students submit, Kognity suggests a score and the reasoning behind it for each answer. You review every suggestion and can accept it or change the score before it is finalised, so you always make the final decision. AI suggested scoring is not yet available for every subject. Where it isn’t available, you score the answers yourself in Kognity.

Feedback: You can review each student’s answer alongside the mark scheme and leave feedback directly in Kognity.

Track progress: You can see which students have opened, started, and submitted the assignment, so you know who needs a nudge.

Mark schemes: Students see the mark scheme and example answers based on the mark scheme setting you chose when creating the assignment: during the assignment, when you unlock it, or automatically after the deadline. Learn more about mark scheme settings.

Practice after the assignment: Questions you assign also stay available to your students for self-study, so they can practise them again later.

Prefer paper? If you’d like students to practise under exam conditions on paper, explain how you want them to hand in their answers in your submission instructions. You can then mark their answers by hand.
