Create your own questions to send as an assignment to your students. Once the questions are created, they will show up in the question bank with your initials on them. Other teachers in your school that teach the same subject will also have access to the questions you created, so you and your colleagues have the chance to use your custom questions in the assignments you send your students. More questions = more practice! Then, just like our own questions, Kognity will automatically grade the assignments and send you the results.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Log in to Kognity

  2. Click on the ‘Create assignment link’ on the lower right portion of the class information and choose ‘Question assignment’ from the drop-down menu:

    Formatting your question

When creating or editing a question, you can now use the upgraded question editor to better structure and format your content.

    You can:

    • Highlight key information using bold, italic, or underline

    • Structure longer questions with bullet points or numbered lists

    • Use quotes or dividers to separate instructions from the main question

    • Add mathematical expressions using the built-in math editor

    The math editor includes:

    • A virtual math keyboard

    • LaTeX autocomplete

    • Block math formatting for more complex equations

You can combine formatted text and math expressions in the same question to make it clearer and easier for students to understand.

  6. Link your question to the related module of the book.

  7. Click "Save."

Tips

  1. If you're making short text questions in a question assignment, make sure the answer is only 1-2 words! The students will need to type it exactly the same as your answer to get it right. However, answers are not case-sensitive (i.e. California and california will both be marked correct).

  2. You cannot have multiple correct answers to a short text question (i.e. monkey and monkeys), so questions either need to specify how to answer, or you can opt for multiple choice.
