Updated over a week ago

To add bank transactions from an external bank to the bookkeeping or to transfer old accounting to Kontist Online Banking, you can use the CSV import in your browser.

  1. Click on “Bookkeeping

  2. At the top right you will find two buttons, select "Import CSV"

  3. A window will open in which you can upload the CSV file

  4. In order to import the files correctly, the columns must now be matched correctly. Use the dropdown fields to select the names of your file that correspond to Kontist's 4 transaction columns

  5. Then click on “Import all

  6. The transactions from the CSV now appear in your list as uncategorized transactions

  7. You can now handle them in your bookkeeping in the same way as usual!

Where can I find bank statements from other banks as CSV?

Most banks offer an export of account statements as CSV directly in their

Online Banking. If this is not the case, contact customer support of your external bank.

What do I need to take into account to successfully import the CSV file?

  • The Name, Payment Date and Amount columns or an equivalent of these columns must be present in the CSV

  • The columns must be matched correctly using the drop-down field

  • No field in the above columns may be empty. The exception is the Purpose, which can remain empty

  • There is no duplicate check when importing CSV. So make sure that the CSV file only contains those transactions that you are missing for accounting.

  • The data format for a date in the uploaded file must be "01/01/2021". Other formats such as "January 1, 2021" or "01-01-2021" are not permitted

  • Only files with € amounts are supported

What do I do if my CSV account statement does not meet the technical requirements?

  • Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet software of your choice (e.g. Microsoft Excel) and adjust the content there yourself. Make sure to save the file as a .csv at the end

  • Columns with a different date format can be reformatted

  • Incorrect transactions or those with empty fields can be deleted

  • Some banks do not have a “Name” column in their bank statements. You can add this and add content yourself

  • The error messages that appear when uploading or importing will give you further information

Will my imported transactions be included in the real-time tax estimate for my reserves?

No, unfortunately we can only offer real-time tax estimates for sales from your Kontist banking. However, this does not affect the accuracy of your Bookkeeping and Tax Declarations. The transactions are taken into account there as usual.
