We ask all our applicants for at least two references.
We need one formal reference (such as a former manager/employer, a former teacher/uni lecturer, or a parent you've done childcare for). N.B - Your formal reference must have held a senior position to you so this means a colleague would not count as a formal reference.
Your other referee can be a personal reference (such as a friend, flatmate, neighbour, or family friend).
At least one of your references needs to have seen you care for children under the age of 12. (This means either your formal reference OR personal reference can be someone who has seen you care for children).
Each of your references needs to have known you for at least 3 months.
If you are a parent and have not been in professional employment or education for a while, you are welcome to provide two personal references who know you and your parenting skills really well.
If your references don't meet all of our requirements, we may need to ask for additional references.
NB: We cannot accept family members, partners, or the partners of family members as references. If you submit any of these, your application will be rejected.
Remember - the more professional childcare experience your referees tell us about, the higher the chance you'll earn more once you're working as a nanny. So, we encourage you to make sure your references will be as relevant to the role as possible.
If you are struggling with your references, please get in touch. You can text us at 07492888510, email care@korukids.co.uk or message us via the chat in the corner of the screen to discuss your options.
