We understand that lots of our nannies don't have professional childcare experience, or it has been for less than one year. Our reference process accommodates for that.

If you are providing our standard references:

We still want to get at least one more formal reference for you.

This could be:

  • educational (e.g. former teacher, current university tutor)

  • childcare/child-related (e.g. someone that you have done babysitting for, employer at a holiday club you worked at)

  • other work/voluntary experience (e.g. manager in your retail job, manager at a hospice you volunteered at)

If you have two references like these that you can provide, then great!

If not, your second reference can be a personal reference from someone like a family friend or flatmate.

You’ll need to make sure at least one of your references has seen you care for children under the age of 12 and that both your references cover a period of at least three months.

If you are providing references to show your parental experience:

You’ll need to provide two references from this list. At least one of them should know you and your parenting skills well and should have seen you care for your children or grandchildren.

  • personal (e.g. family friend)

  • childcare/child-related (e.g. someone that you have done babysitting for, employer at an after school club you worked at)

  • other work/voluntary/educational experience (e.g. manager in your admin job, teacher on a college course you did)

If you haven’t been in professional employment or education for a while, you are welcome to provide two personal references who know you and your parenting skills really well and cover at least three months.
