What is a Nanny Share?

A nanny share is an arrangement where two families employ the same nanny for childcare. The key feature is that for some portion of the time, the nanny cares for both families' children at the same time.

How it works

Nanny shares are highly flexible and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the families:

  • Schedule flexibility: One family might use the nanny for all 5 days of the week, while the other family only needs the nanny for 3 of those days.

  • Location options: Care can take place exclusively at one family's home or alternate between both homes, depending on what works best for everyone involved.

Cost

  • Shared care hours: When the nanny is looking after both families' children simultaneously, each family pays £10.45-£11.75 per hour.

  • Sole care hours: When the nanny is caring for only one family's children, charges start from £15.50 per hour.

Benefits

  • Cost savings compared to employing a nanny individually.

  • Children have opportunities for social interaction.

  • Flexibility to create a schedule that accommodates both families' needs.

  • Professional childcare in a home environment.
