Depending on the pay rate that you are eligible to start on, we will need to validate different lengths of your experience.

You’ll need to provide the contact details of your former employers who can confirm the role and the dates that you’ve worked, and where possible, plenty of details about your skills and experience.

Here is a summary of the starting pay available, and the roles that qualify:

£13.50 (inclusive of holiday pay) - 1-2 years as a teacher, teaching assistant, nursery worker, nanny (paid, full-time or after school), childminder, foster carer, au pair, lunchtime assistant or passenger assistant

£13.75 - £14.00 (inclusive of holiday pay) - 2+ years as a teacher, teaching assistant, nursery worker, nanny (paid, full-time or after school), childminder, foster carer or au pair

🌟 £14.00 - £14.50 (inclusive of holiday pay) - only for 3+ years of paid nanny role(s) where you regularly looked after children, either full time or after school, with whom you are not related, or for 3+ years as an Ofsted registered childminder

  • Please note, if you've worked in a combination of roles including as a nanny or childminder to reach over 3 years experience, you'll be eligible to start on £13.50 - £14.00.

  • These can be school years if your experience was in a school.

  • It can also be cumulative experience. For example, if you worked for 8 months at a nursery and then 6 months as a teaching assistant, you would be eligible to start on £13.50 - £14.00.

  • If you only need to use one reference to demonstrate your professional experience, then you can provide a final more personal reference or one from a role unrelated to childcare.

  • If you have professional experience working with children, but not from a role, please get in touch with us at care@korukids.co.uk to explain a bit more about your situation, as we may still be able to accept it.

What if I have professional experience, but it doesn’t add up to a full year?

Unfortunately we do need to validate at least one year of professional experience to place you on a higher rate of pay. If you aren’t eligible for a higher rate of pay, you should submit for our standard or parental references.

What if I have professional experience but I’m not in touch with my references any more?

Again, we do need to validate your experience in order to place you on a higher rate of pay. We take referencing very seriously as this is a role with children, as we are sure you understand. If you aren’t able to provide professional references to validate your experience, you can provide personal references instead.
