We get it - life happens, timetables change and your availability might not always be the same.

What if I need to change my hours?

If you find that you're no longer able to work the hours you agreed with the family who hired you, the first thing to do is to talk to them about it. We are happy to support any changes you agree on together.

There's no need to create a whole new contract - we'll just need you to tell us the new working schedule you've agreed with the family and we'll send confirmation via email to you both. Once you've both responded to confirm your acceptance of the changes, we'll update your account and you are free to crack on!

What if I need to hand in my notice?

If you need to bring your arrangement to an end, it's important that you speak to the family about it as soon as possible. You'll need to offer them your agreed notice period, which is usually 2 weeks, but if you can let them know sooner that's great as it will give them more time to find replacement childcare.

If you're not sure what your notice period is, you can find this in your employment contract.

We highly recommend that you first provide notice to the family either in person or with a phone call. This ensures that all parties understand why the arrangement is coming to an end and can make any final arrangements as necessary. If you need any support in how to have this conversation, don't hesitate to get in touch with our team.

We also encourage you to confirm this with the family writing - just a text or WhatsApp is fine! - so that you have a record of when you gave notice. You can find some really helpful guidance on how to offer your resignation on the ACAS website here.

Once you've confirmed your last working day, please let us know about the end of the arrangement. We'll then be in touch with the next steps to finalise your contract with the family.

If you are looking for a new role with Koru Kids, you can immediately start browsing new family job posts and arranging interviews via your Koru Kids account.

Of course, if you have any questions finalising your nanny's contract you can email us at care@korukids.co.uk or click the live chat message button to chat to the team.
