What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding can include a lot of things. Broadly it’s the actions we take to support children’s welfare and protect them from harm.

We all know that children deserve a happy life without fear or mistreatment. But it is possible that, in your time as a nanny, you'll care for children experiencing maltreatment.

This can include abuse, neglect or exploitation. Unfortunately it’s more common than you’d expect, with 1 in 5 adults in the UK having experienced abuse as children.

Everyone who works with children has a role to play in spotting potential issues and raising them with the relevant authorities so the child is kept safe. This includes you.

At Koru Kids HQ, we have a Designated Safeguarding Lead. Their job is to support you with any concerns you may have and to work in partnership with you to help safeguard children in your role as a nanny. You can contact us with any concerns, no matter how small and we will always support you with any next steps we think you might need to take.
