Make My First Payment

I recently applied for coverage. How do I make my first payment (binder payment)?

Making your first payment, or binder payment, is a different process than making a regular payment. If you need to pay your regular bill, click here.

If you didn’t make a payment when you applied for coverage, you’ll need to make your first payment in full before your coverage will start.

There are various options to submit your first payment depending on how you bought your policy:

Policy Bought Through Louisiana Blue

  • Submit payment to your agent
    OR

  • Mail to:
    Louisiana Blue
    Attention: Accounts Receivable/Initial Payments
    P.O. Box 98046
    Baton Rouge, LA 70809

Policy Bought Through the Health Insurance Marketplace

  • Call 1-800-352-2583 and pay with credit card or checking account withdrawal.

  • Mail check or money order.

  • In-person:

    • Corporate office in Baton Rouge or Shreveport office - Pay with check, money order, credit card, or checking account withdrawal.

    • Any other district office - Pay with check or money order.

  • Online at Healthcare.gov which redirects to lablue.com:

    • Pay with credit card, debit card, or electronic funds transfer (EFT).

    • Please have the following ready:

      • Application number, subscriber ID number, and/or Exchange ID number

      • Social Security number

      • Zip code

      • Date of birth

      • Bank or credit card information
