What is excluded from coverage in the health and surgery insurances?

This page provides a brief overview of some insurance exclusions. We strongly recommend that you carefully read the Insurance Terms and Conditions. A complete list of exclusions can be found in Section 4.

Which illnesses or injuries are not covered?

Diseases that are explicitly excluded:

❌ The following conditions are not covered under the insurance:

  • Wobbler Syndrome (Cervical Spondylosis)

  • Cauda Equina Syndrome (Lumbosacral Stenosis)

  • Growth disorders of the forearm (Radius curvus)

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) (a genetic spinal cord disease)

  • Cryptorchidism (Undescended testicles)

  • Congenital Hernias (Umbilical, inguinal, diaphragmatic hernias)

Conditions with an 18-month waiting period:

⚠️ The following diagnoses have a special waiting period of 18 months from the start of the insurance:

  • Hip Dysplasia (HD)

  • Elbow Dysplasia (ED)

  • Osteochondrosis Dissecans (OCD)

  • Patellar Luxation (Dislocation of the kneecap)

  • Eyelid malformations (Entropion, Ectropion)

  • Brachycephalic Syndrome

  • FORL (Feline Odontoclastic Resorptive Lesions/Feline Tooth Resorption)

❌ If signs or symptoms of these conditions appear before the start of the insurance or during the 18-month waiting period, they will not be covered.

Additional exclusions may include:

  • Pre-existing conditions or chronic illnesses (e.g., allergies diagnosed before insurance start)

  • Diseases that develop during the general waiting period

  • Certain treatments or procedures that are not medically necessary
