All laundry cards (regular user cards, or system cards - with the exception of Activation Cards) can be banned via the LaundroPortal; you can also ban LaundryCat App and WashLynx App accounts should you need to.
The most common reason for needing to ban a Laundry Card is if the card is lost by it's original owner; but you're able to ban any Laundry Card, or mobile App account, for any reason, at any time.
When a Laundry Card/App account is banned, the value loaded on that card/account remains on the card/account and will always be visible from the LaundroPortal;
however the balance on that card/account cannot be used to start any machines in the store, and any funds still on that card are removed from any Float calculations for the store.
On the LaundroPortal, you'll always be able to see the balance of the banned account, but from the systems perspective, that card/account has $0 on it, as none of that value can be used to interact with the store's equipment.
At any point, you can always unban a Laundry Card, or mobile App account, that was previously banned. Unbanning that card/account will fully restore it's functionality and any balance it has on it.
How to Ban a card?
To Ban a card/account, use the Ban Cards menu on the right hand side on the LaundroPortal, under the Management Tools section;
or click on the Card Tracker, look up the account by the card # (or registered phone number, or email), then click on the "Ban Card" tab to make the ban request:
When a card/account is Banned, it will not work on any VACs or Card Readers in the location; instead attempting to use this card/account will prompt the VAC/Card Readers to display an "UNAUTHORIZED Code: B01" or "UNAUTHORIZED Code: B01" message.
When making a Ban request, it is strongly recommended to enter a Reason for banning the card/account.
This is not a required field, but it is helpful to also have a reason entered for posterity.
How to tell if a Laundry Card has been previously Banned:
You can tell if a laundry card has been banned by searching that Laundry Card's number (or mobile App account's number) using the Card Tracker.
On a banned laundry card, you will see a "Banned" tagged right underneath the card/account number, and you can also click on the Ban Card tab to see when the ban was originally requested, as well as the reason listed for the ban (assuming a reason was given when initially banned):
Note: if the system bans a card (which will happen automatically if a customer uses the Replace Card feature, on a VAC with a touch screen, to receive a new laundry card with the balance of the lost card transferred over) the system will always list a reason for the ban.
In the above example, a customer used the Replace Card feature to have a replacement card dispensed with the value of their lost card transferred over to their new card.
The system automatically banned the old card when this feature was used, and it listed the number of the replacement card that was issued to the customer during this action.
How to Unban a Laundry Card
To unban a card that was previously banned, you'll use the Card Tracker.
Navigate to the Ban Card tab, and click the Unban Card button to unban that Laundry Card/Mobile App account immediately:
This action will fully restore that card/accounts functionality, and any balance left on the card will remain and be usable in the store.
Can I re-use/re-cycle a banned card that was found
Yes. If a Card is lost, it is recommended to Ban that card and leave a comment like "lost card". But if you find a banned card, and the intention is to put the card back into the VAC to be recycled, it is recommended that you unban the card manually before putting it back into the VAC card dispenser.
However, if you do not unban the card before putting it back into the VAC card dispenser, the VAC will automatically unban that card whenever it is re-dispensed to a new customer.
A card can be unbanned manually from the same Card Tracker "Ban Card" tab:
All the transaction history of a card that's been recycled will still exists and be visible to you via the LaundroPortal;
however for the new customer that receives that card, they will only ever see the card history from the time the VAC re-dispensed that card to them.
The only way to tell if a card has been recycled is via the LaundroPortal.
Can I get a list of all the Banned Cards
Yes, anytime a card is banned it will be listed in the Ban Cards section of the LaundroPortal, which can be found under Management tools section:
