TL;DR: You can upload your own curriculum or state standards to LearnSpark. SparkAI will then track your student's progress and find any learning gaps based on those specific rules.
If you follow a specific school curriculum, a local state framework, or have your own unique learning goals, you aren't limited to our presets. Our custom upload feature allows SparkAI to read your documents. This creates a truly tailored LearnSpark experience just for your family.
How Custom Curriculum Features Work
The Curriculums tab is where you connect your chosen educational framework to your daily activities. By providing your own documents, you allow SparkAI to perform helpful background tasks that keep your student's education on track.
Curriculum Ingestion: You can upload PDFs or text documents that contain your chosen learning standards.
Gap Analysis: SparkAI looks at your documents and compares them to the lessons your child has finished. It finds exactly what has been covered and what skills are still missing.
Skills Decomposition: SparkAI breaks down big, complex goals from your documents into small, easy learning steps. This makes sure every lesson is just right for your student's age.
Standards Mapping: Once your curriculum is uploaded, SparkAI connects every lesson directly to the goals in your documents.
💡 Good to know: Using these features helps build a more accurate Mastery Profile for your student. It ensures they are actually learning what you want them to learn!
The Role of SparkAI Credits
Analyzing long curriculum documents and performing a Gap Analysis takes a lot of "brain power" from the system. Because of this, these actions use your SparkAI credits.
The advantage of this system is that you only pay for what you actually use. If you run low on credits, the platform will prompt you to upgrade so you can keep things moving. If you find you aren't using as much the next month, you can downgrade your account and your billing will be pro-rated through Stripe.
⚠️ Heads up: Make sure your uploaded documents clearly list learning objectives so SparkAI can read them correctly.
Setting Up Your Custom Curriculum
Ready to get started? Follow these simple steps:
Click on the Curriculums section in the main sidebar.
Click the button that says Upload New Curriculum.
Select your PDF or text file from your computer.
Wait a moment for SparkAI to process the document. It is busy breaking down the goals using Skills Decomposition.
Once it is finished, assign this curriculum to your student. That’s it — you’re all set!
Viewing the Results
After your curriculum is mapped, head over to the Performance tab. Here, you will see exactly how your student is progressing against the standards you uploaded. You can see their operating level compared to the expected level of the curriculum.
This is very helpful for creating PDF compliance reports. These reports prove to others that you are meeting specific regional or school requirements. Great job on staying organized!
Frequently Asked Questions
What files can I upload for my curriculum?
You can upload PDF files or plain text documents. For the best results, make sure the document clearly lists the learning goals or standards you want to track.
Does uploading a curriculum cost extra?
Uploading and analyzing documents uses SparkAI credits. Your base plan comes with credits, and you can always add more if you are a "power user" who processes a lot of documents.
How does the Gap Analysis help me?
It compares what your child has already done in LearnSpark against your uploaded goals. It tells you exactly what topics you might have missed so you can plan a lesson for them next.
What is Skills Decomposition?
This is when SparkAI takes a very difficult or broad goal and breaks it into smaller, bite-sized tasks that your child can actually complete in one lesson.
What happens if I downgrade my plan?
If you change your plan through Stripe, your billing will be pro-rated based on what you have and haven't used that month.
