How to Adjust Lesson Difficulty with Feedback

Updated this week

TL;DR: You can automatically adjust the difficulty of future lessons by using the "Too Easy" or "Too Hard" feedback buttons after finishing a session. SparkAI learns from this one-tap feedback to make sure your child is always challenged but never overwhelmed.

Using the One-Tap Feedback Buttons

You don't need to write a long report to help the platform learn. At the end of every lesson on your Weekly Learning Schedule, you will see a simple feedback prompt. Here is how to use the buttons:

  1. Too Easy: Tap this if your child finished the work quickly without needing help. SparkAI will increase the complexity for the next lesson.

  2. Just Right: Tap this if your child was engaged and had to think, but could finish the work. This tells SparkAI to stay at the current level.

  3. Too Hard: Tap this if your child felt frustrated or stuck. SparkAI will simplify the language and foundational concepts next time.

⚠️ Heads up: If a lesson was "Too Hard," SparkAI might suggest a "Gap Analysis" lesson next. This helps your child master the basics they might have missed before moving on!

How the Adaptive Feedback Loop Works

Every child learns at their own pace. This pace can change depending on the subject! LearnSpark uses an Adaptive Feedback Loop to ensure your lessons stay in the "Goldilocks Zone"—not too hard, not too easy, but just right.

When you complete a lesson, SparkAI asks for your input. By clicking a single button, you tell the platform if the level was right. This data goes to your student's Mastery Profile. SparkAI uses this to recalibrate the difficulty for the very next lesson you generate.

💡 Good to know: This feedback doesn't just change the numbers. It changes how SparkAI explains concepts and the types of practice problems it creates for your child.

Seeing the Results in Your Plan

The magic happens behind the scenes! Once you provide feedback, SparkAI updates the student's Operating Level. This is a real-time measurement of what they can actually do right now.

The more feedback you give, the smarter your LearnSpark experience becomes. You can see how these shifts happen over time by checking your student's Mastery Heatmap in the performance tab. Great job keeping your child's journey on track!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does providing feedback cost AI credits?

No! Clicking the feedback buttons does not cost any credits. However, when SparkAI uses that feedback to build a new personalized lesson later, that generation will use your standard credits.

Can I change my feedback if I click the wrong button?

Currently, the feedback is processed immediately to help plan your next session. If you make a mistake, don't worry! Simply provide the correct feedback after the next lesson, and SparkAI will quickly adjust back to the right level.

Will this change all subjects or just the one I'm teaching?

SparkAI is smart enough to know that a child might be a genius at Math but struggle with Creative Writing. The feedback loop is subject-specific. "Too Easy" in Science won't make your History lessons harder.

What if I forget to leave feedback?

If no feedback is provided, SparkAI will continue at the current estimated level. We recommend tapping a button after every session to get the most out of your LearnSpark experience!
