TL;DR: The Interest Weaver uses your child's favorite hobbies to make lessons more exciting by building schoolwork around things they love like Minecraft or Space.
Every parent knows that a child who is excited about a topic learns faster. They also remember more of what they learn! At LearnSpark, we use those passions to make learning feel like a personal adventure.
This is where the Interest Weaver comes in. It is a core part of the LearnSpark experience that takes your child's unique interests and weaves them into their lessons through SparkAI.
What are Student Themes?
Every child has something that makes their eyes light up. It might be dinosaurs, baking, or building digital worlds. In LearnSpark, we call these Themes. These are the secret ingredient to making lessons feel personal and fun.
Instead of a boring math problem about apples, SparkAI might create a word problem about trading emeralds in Minecraft. This helps your child stay focused and excited about their work.
💡 Good to know: Your child’s interests change as they grow. We recommend checking their Themes list every few months to make sure it still reflects what they actually love today!
How to Update Your Student's Profile
Updating your student's interest profile is quick and easy. Follow these steps to keep their learning journey relevant:
From your Dashboard, click on the Students tab.
Select the student profile you want to update.
Look for the Themes & Interests section.
To add a new interest, type a specific name like "Marine Biology" or "Gymnastics" and press enter.
To remove an old interest, click the small "x" next to that theme.
Click Save Profile to apply the changes.
That's it — you're all set! Great job making learning more personal for your student.
⚠️ Heads up: If you leave old interests in the profile, SparkAI might still suggest them. Make sure to delete the things they have outgrown!
How the Interest Weaver Works
Once you save these interests, they start working across the whole platform. Here is how it looks in real life:
Lesson Planning: When you make a new lesson, SparkAI looks at your saved Themes. It builds the story, examples, and math problems around those topics.
Themed Projects: For long-term projects, the Interest Weaver makes the work feel more like a hobby and less like a chore.
Mastery Tracking: SparkAI tracks how well your child performs when their favorite themes are used. This helps build a detailed Mastery Profile in the Performance tab.
Tips for Better Personalization
To get the best results from the Interest Weaver, try these helpful tips:
Be Specific: Use detailed names for hobbies. Instead of just "Games," use "Roblox" or "Chess." SparkAI is very smart and can even include specific characters or story points!
Provide Feedback: Use the Listen feedback tool after a lesson. This personalizes your LearnSpark experience by letting the system know which themes worked best.
Monitor Credits: Remember that updating profiles and generating themed lessons uses SparkAI credits. SparkAI works in the background to analyze changes and update the student's mastery profile.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Themes can I add at once?
You can add as many as you like! However, we recommend keeping 3 to 5 "active" themes. This helps SparkAI focus on what is most exciting for your child right now.
Does updating themes use SparkAI credits?
Yes, SparkAI credits are used when you save profile updates. This is because SparkAI is working to update your child's Mastery Profile based on these new interests.
What if the interest doesn't match the lesson well?
If a generated lesson feels a bit "forced," you can click Regenerate. This will give SparkAI another chance to find a more natural way to include your child's hobbies.
Can I have different themes for different kids?
Absolutely! Each student has their own unique profile. One child might love "Ancient Egypt" while another is into "Robotics."
