How to Adjust Lesson Difficulty with Feedback

Updated this week

TL;DR: You can adjust the difficulty of your lessons by providing feedback after a session. SparkAI uses your ratings and notes to update your child's mastery profile and make future lessons just right.

How to Give Lesson Feedback

After you finish a lesson, you can help SparkAI understand how your student performed. Instead of simple buttons, you will use a feedback form to give a clear picture of the session. This is how you personalize your LearnSpark experience.

To find the feedback section, open a lesson from your Schedule or Dashboard. Look for the feedback form where you can include:

  • Performance Rating: Choose a rating to show how well your student understood the material.

  • Struggles and Gaps: Tell SparkAI exactly where your student got stuck or what concepts they found difficult.

  • User Notes: Add your own private user notes about what worked well during the day.

⚠️ Heads up: There is no "Adjust Difficulty" button on a generated lesson. To change the level, you provide feedback and then regenerate the lesson so SparkAI can create a better version for you.

Updating the Mastery Profile

Every time you submit feedback, you are teaching SparkAI about your student's unique needs. This information updates their Mastery Profile. This profile tracks their Operating Level compared to their Expected Level for each subject.

By regularly providing feedback, your lessons become more personalized. SparkAI will begin to recognize patterns, like if a student needs more visual aids or simpler instructions in a specific subject. That's it β€” you're making learning better Every day!

πŸ’‘ Good to know: Your feedback also helps SparkAI identify learning gaps. If a student struggles often, SparkAI may suggest focusing on foundational skills before moving to harder topics.

How to Change an Existing Lesson

If a lesson SparkAI created feels way too hard or too easy right now, you can fix it immediately. You don't have to wait for the next lesson!

  1. Go to the lesson detail page.

  2. Find the regeneration notes field.

  3. Type in exactly what needs to change (e.g., "Make this easier for a 7-year-old" or "Focus more on the visual parts").

  4. Click Regenerate. SparkAI will use your note to build a brand new version.

To see how your student's levels are changing over time, visit the Performance tab. Here, you will see Standards Progress bars. These show you exactly how your student is mastering skills based on the feedback you've given. Great job keeping your child's learning journey on track!

Frequently Asked Questions

Does providing feedback cost SparkAI credits?

No! Filling out the feedback form and updating the mastery profile does not cost any credits. However, if you choose to regenerate a lesson to change its difficulty, that new generation will use your standard credits.

Where do I find the feedback form?

The feedback form is located inside each individual lesson page. Just click on a lesson in your schedule to see the feedback options.

Will feedback in Math affect my English lessons?

SparkAI tracks mastery per subject. If you report that a Math lesson was too difficult, it will adjust your Operating Level for Math without changing the challenge level of your other subjects.

What is the difference between user notes and regeneration notes?

User notes are for your own records and history. Regeneration notes are instructions you give to SparkAI to tell it exactly how to rewrite a lesson for you.

What if I want to skip feedback for a day?

You can skip feedback, but SparkAI won't know if the student struggled or excelled. We recommend adding at least a quick performance rating to keep your student's progress tracking accurate.
