How SparkAI Picks Your Next Lesson

Updated this week

TL;DR: SparkAI looks at what your student already knows and what they still need to learn to recommend the "Right Next Lesson" automatically.

One of the best parts of the LearnSpark experience is that you don't have to spend hours wondering what to teach next. SparkAI acts like a helpful teaching assistant. It looks at your student’s progress and suggests the perfect topic to keep them moving forward.

How the "Right Next Lesson" Works

When you ask the platform to create a lesson without picking a topic yourself, SparkAI performs a Gap Analysis. This means it checks the student's Mastery Profile against their curriculum to see what is missing.

The system looks for three main things:

  • Missing Lessons: Topics in the curriculum that you haven't covered yet.

  • Building Blocks: Skills that need to be learned before your student can move on to harder work.

  • Learning Gaps: Areas where past feedback shows they might need a little more practice.

💡 Good to know: This information updates in real-time. Every time you log an activity or give feedback, the LearnSpark experience gets smarter. This deep analysis uses SparkAI credits to keep everything up to date.

Using the Mastery Profile

SparkAI doesn't just guess what to teach. It uses the data from your student's Mastery Profile. This profile updates whenever you upload evidence or provide feedback on how a lesson went.

The progress bars on the Performance tab show how your student is doing compared to where they are expected to be. If SparkAI sees that a student is struggling with a specific skill, it will suggest a lesson that helps them master it before moving on. This helps make sure your child never feels overwhelmed.

You Stay in Control

While SparkAI is great at picking the next step, you still have the final say. You can choose how much help you want:

  1. Fully Automatic: Click Generate Next Lesson and let the system choose the subject and the goal based on the biggest gap.

  2. Subject-Led: You pick the subject (like Science), and SparkAI chooses the best specific goal within that subject.

  3. Your Own Idea: Type in a specific topic your child is curious about. SparkAI builds the lesson for you while still connecting it to your curriculum.

⚠️ Heads up: If you haven't assigned a specific curriculum to your student, SparkAI will use general age-appropriate goals to suggest your next lesson.
