Career Plans helps you figure out what NCEA subjects you need to do at school to go after the career you want. This way, you can just focus on the subjects that will help you along on your career pathway.

It's also okay if you have no idea what you want to do in the future! Have a play around with possible careers and see what subjects you'd need to do at school if you wanted to pursue those careers.

To get started, click on 'career plans' in the left side navigation:

Start by adding a career (or two!):

Then, click the 'Add to 'Your subjects'' button to easily add all of the subjects for all of the careers you've chosen. These will appear at every relevant year level (eg. Level 1, Level 2, Level 3)

Where do you get this information from?

All over the internet! We're pooling together information from sites like Careers NZ and StudySpy to help you plan your career pathway.

How do I connect my NZQA Record of Achievement with LearnCoach?

This is not currently possible. Career plans is designed to support your subject decisions on your path to the career you want as quickly and easily as possible.

How do I check off a subject/standard if I didn’t do it on LearnCoach?

You don't need to check off subjects and standards on LearnCoach as you complete them. As you progress between year levels, the location icon will move, so you can see where you're at on the pathway.

The location marker looks like this:

The career I want isn’t on the website

Do I need to do every subject/course in my pathway?

Not necessarily, but this is our best guess with the information available! These subjects/standards are recommended to make it easy for universities to accept you into their courses. Specific requirements may vary depending on your chosen provider.

How do I see which courses are for which pathway (I have selected more than one)?

The best way to do this is to experiment by adding and removing different career pathways, then noticing the differences. You can do this by clicking 'Edit career'.
