D5 How to pay, and what to do if a payment fails

Your wallet is used first, then you pay the rest by Visa or Mastercard. What to check if your card is refused.

Written by Elise

In step 3 of your bag, your wallet balance is used first, automatically. You pay the rest by Visa or Mastercard, typed directly in the page. There is no PayPal button and no PayPal Credit (net terms) in the portal any more.

Steps

  1. In your bag, go through Bag and Shipping, then click Continue to payment.

  2. If you have money in your wallet, it is applied by itself: you see "… from your wallet". It can't be turned off.

  3. Under Left to pay by card, type:

    • Name on the card

    • Card number

    • Month (2 digits) and Year (4 digits) of the expiry date

    • Security code (the 3 or 4 digits on the card)

  4. Click Pay (the button shows the amount). If your wallet covers everything, there is no card to enter: click Pay with your wallet.

  5. "Thank you!" appears with your order number. A confirmation email follows.

If your card is refused

You see your bank's message, or "The payment didn't go through. Nothing was charged; check the card details and try again." Nothing was charged. Check these, then try again:

  1. The card is a Visa or a Mastercard. Other cards aren't accepted in the portal.

  2. The billing address matches your card. Click Back to shipping, then Edit in Customer and shipping details. Turn off Same as the shipping address if your card's address is different, type it, and click Save.

  3. The numbers are typed correctly: card number, month, year and security code.

  4. Your bank isn't blocking the charge. We are in Montréal, Canada, and your order may be charged in CAD, USD or EUR (see D3). Some banks block a charge from another country, or over your usual limit. Call the number on the back of your card, ask them to allow it, then pay again.

  5. Try another card.

  6. Still stuck? Write to us through the chat bubble at the bottom right of the portal, or at team@legaleriste.com, with your order number. Never send your card number by chat or email.

Good to know

  • Your bag stays as it is while you fix the problem: you don't need to start again.

  • "Your promo code is no longer valid" means the code expired before you paid: see D4.

  • Touch-ups are paid by card only; the wallet isn't used for them (see B6).

  • On the public Studio website (legaleriste.info), payment works differently: PayPal, Pay Later or a card through PayPal's checkout.
