E1 Shipping fees and carriers

How the shipping price is calculated, how to choose a carrier, and what insurance covers.

Written by Elise

Shipping is calculated live when you reach step 2 of your bag (Shipping). We ask the carriers for a price for your pieces and your address, and you choose the option you prefer. There is no fixed shipping table.

Steps

  1. Click the bag icon at the top right, then Continue to shipping.

  2. Wait a few seconds while the page shows "Calculating shipping and taxes…".

  3. Check the address under Customer and shipping details. To change it, click Edit, correct it, then click Save. The prices are calculated again.

  4. Under Carrier, choose one option. Each option shows the service, its price and its delivery time in business days. The cheapest one is first.

  5. Keep Add insurance (recommended for orders over $100) ticked, or untick it. The insurance fee is shown next to the box.

  6. Check the Shipping and Insurance lines in the order summary on the right, then continue to payment.

Good to know

  • Portal orders ship only to Canada, the United States and France. For any other country, write to us at team@legaleriste.com before ordering.

  • Every order leaves from our atelier in Montréal. The weight of your pieces, the size of the parcel and the distance set the price.

  • The delivery time counts from the day your parcel leaves Montréal. The day it leaves is shown separately: see E3.

  • If no option appears, the page says "No shipping option for this address yet. Check the address." See E4.

  • If the carriers don't answer, the portal shows an estimate based on the weight and the destination.

  • We no longer publish a weight table. The price you see at step 2 is the real one.

Insurance

  • Every parcel is insured against loss or damage by default, from the moment the carrier picks it up until delivery.

  • Add insurance raises the coverage to the declared value of your order, up to USD 800. Its fee appears as its own line.

  • Claims go through the carrier and usually take 7 to 10 business days. Refunds are paid by cheque.

  • Delays are not covered, and some postage options can't get the higher coverage.

Your storefront customers

Customers who buy on your storefront pay their own shipping on legaleriste.com. Product pages there show free shipping on orders of $250 or more.
