This article explains what to do when the [Reply in thread] button is disabled on the matter detail page due to Slack integration issues.
For IT Administrator:
Please check the causes listed below based on the error message displayed.
If you're not an IT admin, please share this page with your administrator and ask them to investigate.
Error 1: “Reply is unavailable because Slack is not integrated.”
Cause:
Slack integration may have been disconnected.
What to do:
Go to the Slack integration settings page in LegalOn.
Verify that the current status is [Enabled].
If not connected:
Follow the instructions in [How to integrate Slack with LegalOn] to re-establish the connection.
If you reconnect to the same Slack workspace, previous threads will be restored and messaging can resume.
Error 2: “Reply is unavailable because the connected Slack workspace has changed.”
Cause:
The workspace connected to LegalOn was changed after the Slack thread was created.
What to do:
In this case, you cannot resume messaging in existing threads.
If you wish to continue using Slack:
Have a Matter Management user create a new matter.
In the new matter, create a new Slack thread by selecting a Slack channel.
Error 3: “Reply is unavailable because the connected Slack workspace or LegalOn Slack app was deleted.”
What to check:
Step 1: Was the connected Slack workspace deleted?
Confirm whether the previously connected Slack workspace still exists.
If the workspace was deleted:
First, follow the steps in [Disconnect Slack Integration] to remove the link in LegalOn.
You may see a message like:
"Failed to disconnect. Please try again later."
→ Click [Cancel] and confirm the status has changed to [Unlinked].
Then, re-integrate using the steps in [How to integrate Slack with LegalOn].
Step 2: Was the LegalOn app removed from Slack?
The LegalOn Slack app may have been deleted from the workspace.
Check using: [Remove Apps and Custom Integrations | Slack Help Center].
If the app was removed:
Follow the same procedure as in Step 1 to reconnect via LegalOn.
⚠️ Simply reinstalling the app from Slack will not re-establish the integration.
Reconnection must be done from within LegalOn.
