This article explains how to re-export a problematic PDF file using your browser’s print function and re-upload it to LegalOn.
When to Use This Method
You may encounter the following issues with an uploaded PDF file:
Broken layout in the [Preview] view
Text display failure or corruption in the [Text] view
Failed extraction of contract information
Error displayed: “This file may not meet the requirements for electronic record retention under the Electronic Book Storage Act” despite meeting requirements
These issues may be caused by an outdated PDF version or partially corrupted file data.
Re-export and Re-upload the PDF
Google Chrome
Open the PDF in Chrome and click the [Print] icon in the top-right corner.
Under [Destination], select [Microsoft Print to PDF] and click [Print].
⚠️ Do not use [Save as PDF]; select [Microsoft Print to PDF].
Microsoft Edge (Chromium)
Open the PDF in Edge and click the [Print] icon in the top-right corner.
Under [Printer], select [Microsoft Print to PDF] and click [Print].
⚠️ Do not use [Save as PDF]; select [Microsoft Print to PDF].
Special Considerations for Executed Contracts
If the affected file is an executed contract, please manage it carefully:
Generate a new PDF file using the above steps.
Upload it to LegalOn as an executed contract and link it as a related file to the original.
See [Link Related Files].
Add a special provision to the uploaded contract specifying:
That the PDF was re-exported and re-uploaded due to a system issue
Where the original contract is stored (linked as a related file)
If the Problem Persists
If the issue is not resolved, please contact the LegalOn Support Team.
