[New]Editing contracts

LegalOn provides two methods for editing contracts:

  • Standard Editor

  • Microsoft Word for the web (Beta)

Each method supports different file types, features, and saving mechanisms.

  • (*1) Co-editing is available only within Microsoft Word for the web. You cannot co-edit using a combination of the Standard Editor and Microsoft Word for the web.

  • (*2) Available only with a license for the Review module.

  • (*3) Not available within Microsoft Word for the web, but can be accessed via the Contract Details screen.

  • (*4) Only one type of bullet point and numbering can be applied.

  • (*5) Only text within tables can be edited.

About auto-save and version creation

Saving and version creation differ between the Standard Editor and Microsoft Word for the web.

Edits are not automatically saved. You must manually save any edits before leaving the page.

Version creation timing

A new LegalOn version is created every time you click [Save].

Auto-save does not create new versions in LegalOn. A new LegalOn version is created only when you click [Save] or [Check] in Microsoft Word for the web.


Changing default settings

You can set the option that appears by default when you click [Review] on the Contract Details screen for each file format. Word and PDF default settings are managed separately.

Open in Microsoft Word for the web

Edit contracts using Microsoft Word for the web.

The [Review] button displays a [Word] icon.

Review PDF (PDF files only)

View review results on the PDF file without converting the file. Note: you cannot edit the contract on the review results screen (*).

The [Review] button displays a [PDF] icon.

(*) To edit the file, open the Standard Editor or Microsoft Word for the web from the review results screen. This will automatically convert the PDF to a Word file (.docx) in LegalOn.

How to configure

To change your default settings, click [v] β†’ [Change Default] at the top right of the file details screen. You can configure your settings for Word files and PDF files separately.

πŸ“ Note The settings for [Change Default] are saved in your browser. They will not carry over to other browsers or computers, and clearing your browser cache will reset them.

πŸ’‘ Tip Even with a default value set, you can open any individual file with a different method from the [v] menu.
