This article explains how to change the email address associated with your LegalOn account.

Change Your Email Address

1. Go to User settings > Profile.

2. Click Change email address.

3. Enter your new email address and click Save.

A notification email will be sent to your current email address.

Subject: [LegalOn] Email Address Change Request Received

A verification email will be sent to your new email address.

Subject: [LegalOn] Please Confirm Email Address Change

4. Open the verification email sent to your new email address and click Confirm email address change in the email.

5 . If the “Your authentication has expired” screen appears, click Log in again.

6. When the login page appears, sign in using your previous email address.

7. On the email address entry screen, enter your new email address and sign in.

8 . Confirm that you received the email address change completion notice.

Once your email address has been changed, completion notice emails will be sent to the following email addresses.

  • Previous Email Address

Subject: [LegalOn] Important: Your Email Address Has Been Changed

  • New Email Address

Subject: [LegalOn] Email Address Change Completed

From: LegalOn no-reply@legalon-cloud.com  

  • IT Administrators

Subject: [LegalOn] User Email Address Changed - {user_name}

⚠️Note:

  • Complete verification within 72 hours after receiving the verification email. If more than 72 hours have passed, follow the steps in Change Your Email Address again to restart the email address change process.

  • If you use SSO (Single Sign-On), after changing your email address by following the steps in Change Your Email Address, you must also update your email address with your identity provider.

Once the email address has been updated in either LegalOn or your identity provider, you will not be able to log in to LegalOn until the email address has been updated in both systems.

When changing your email address, follow your organization's process and ask your IT administrator for support if needed.

💡Info:

  • You can only change your own email address.

  • You cannot change your email address to one that is already used by another user in the same tenant.

  • If you are logged in on other devices, you will need to log in again with your new email address on all devices.

Troubleshooting:

“Your authentication has expired” error appears:

This error may appear when you try to log in with your new email address from the verification email in either of the following cases:

  • More than 72 hours have passed since you received the verification email.

  • The email address change has already been completed.

Enter your new email address again in Your profile, then log in from the “Please Confirm Email Address Change” email. Your previous attempt will be automatically invalidated.

If You Receive an Unexpected Verification Email

If you receive a verification email that you do not recognize, please change your password immediately. For instructions, see Change or reset your password.

Q. What should I do if I do not receive the verification email?

A. Check your spam or junk mail folder. Also, verify that the email address entered in Your profile is correct.

Q. What should I do if I entered the wrong email address and did not receive the verification email?

A. Enter your new email address again in Your profile, then log in using the verification email. Your previous request will be automatically invalidated.

Q. I would like to cancel my email address change request. What should I do?

A. You can cancel the request using either of the following methods:

  • Change your email address again from Your profile. (Your previous request will be canceled automatically).

  • After receiving the verification email, do not click Confirm Email Address Change in the email. Discard the email and wait at least 72 hours for the request to expire.
