Purpose
The goal of this article is to help users understand key features of LegalOn's Editor and answer the following questions:
What is Editor for?
How can I access Editor?
What can I do in Editor?
What limitations should I be aware of?
1. What is Editor for?
The Editor page (hereinafter 'Editor') allows users to make and save contract revisions within their browsers. Contracts are on displayed on the left-hand side of Editor; risk alerts are displayed on the right-hand side.
Editor allows you to make the following changes directly to your contract:
Add or delete text
Bold, underline, italicize, or strikethrough text
Add bullets and numbering
Align (left, right, and center) and justify text
Increase or decrease indentation
Undo or redo changes
In additional to text-based changes, you can also do the following in Editor:
Add comments
View comments (left by yourself or your colleagues)
Save the latest contract version
View edit history (including date/time of revision and name of the revisor)
Return to the Preview page
2. How can I access Editor?
You can easily access Editor located from the Preview page or the Review page.

Review page
Once you click on "Edit in Web Browser," a disclosure will pop up. Refer to the bottom of this article to familiarize yourself with Editor's limitations.
3. What can I do in Editor?
On the left-hand side, you can make direct changes to text in the contract. On the right-hand side, you can view LegalOn alerts and the associated importance level, and use AI Revise to incorporate LegalOn's suggestions into your contract. You may read more about AI Revise in this article.
Delete and add text
Format text
When you highlight text in Editor, you will see a hover appearing right above. You can then format text by selecting one of the following options:
Bold
Italics
Underline
Strikethrough (*)
* Displayed in BLACK to differentiate from strikethrough text in color
Note that hovering over the changes allows you to see who made the edit, along with a date / time stamp.
Comment
Select text and click the "comment" icon in the hover. Then you can add comments, replies, view comments by other users in your organization, and set a comment as resolved (or as unresolved).
An unresolved comment shows as text with blue underline and highlight. When a comment is resolved, you can still see the comment trail by clicking on the text. However, the highlight and underline will both be greyed out.
Comments (along with other changes) will appear in the downloaded Word document.
Undo or redo changes
You can undo or redo changes easily by clicking the two buttons located at the upper left corner of the Editor page.
Add bullets and numbering
Align (left, center, and right) and justify text
Increase or decrease indentation
Save your edits
After clicking "Save" in the upper right corner of Editor, you will be taken back to the Preview page, where you can review the document, edit contract title and party names, and much more.

4. What limitations should I be aware of?
Currently, Editor has some limitations:
File type compatibility
Currently, you can only edit .docx files in Editor. PDFs or .doc files are NOT supported. We are working on making this tool compatible with other file types and will incorporate improvements in our future releases.
Read more about compatibility-related topics in "File type compatibility"
Display
Contracts in Editor look different than they do in Microsoft Word. Typically, changes to font, font size, and spacing will revert to original formatting after you save, download, and open in Microsoft Word. We advise a quick self-check with your current contract before getting started.
Deletion
The following components will be deleted if you save a contract in Editor:
Images
Page numbers
Headers and footers
Tables of content
Tables
Text within tables CANNOT be edited.
Resizing
Users cannot resize text (i.e., change font size) in Editor.
Auto-Saving
Editor will not autosave revisions made by the user. Users must select the "Save" button at the top of the page.
Auto-Scrolling
Clicking an alert will NOT always prompt Editor to auto-scroll to the relevant contract article on the left hand side.
Our team is actively working to overcome these limitations. Starting in Fall 2023, we'll release improvements to all users on an ongoing basis.
