Learn how to set up the Get a Quote option on your Legiit service, write smart quote questions and send customers custom offers that win the order.

Some services can't have a fixed price because every project is different.

With Get a Quote, you can list a service without a set price. Customers tell you about their project first, then you send them a custom offer with a price that fits.

When to use it

Get a Quote works best when the work really does change from client to client, like a full website, a custom design package or an ongoing campaign.

If your service always has the same deliverables, fixed packages are usually the better choice because customers can order right away.

How to set it up

  1. Create a new service, or open a draft you're working on.

  2. In the Scope & Pricing tab, leave all package prices empty to offer Get a Quote instead of fixed pricing.

  3. Click Save & Continue

  4. You will be routed to the Quote Fields tab. Add your quote questions. These are the questions customers answer when they request a quote. You can make each one required, and choose a short answer or a longer text box.

  5. Finish the rest of your service as usual: title, description, gallery, FAQs and so on.

  6. Click Publish to send your service for admin's review.

What customers see

On your service page, customers see a Get a Quote box with the note "Share your project details. The seller will respond with a custom offer."

They click it, answer your questions inside a form, and their answers arrive in your Legiit inbox as a message.

Example of a Quote form:

How to reply to a quote request

  1. Open the message in your inbox.

  2. Ask follow-up questions if you need more details.

  3. Send a custom offer with your price, delivery time and what's included.

  4. Once the customer accepts, pays, and starts the order, you can begin with your work.

Tips for good quote questions

  • Ask only what you need to price the job. 3 to 5 questions is usually enough.

  • Start with one open question, such as "Please describe your request in as much detail as possible."

  • Ask about anything that changes your price, like the number of pages, words, posts or revisions.

  • Ask about the customer's timeline and budget so your offer is close to what they expect.

Changing the option later

If you'd like to change your Get a Quote service to a regular fixed price service at any point, you can do that by Editing your service.

In the Overview tab, turn the "Offer Get a Quote instead of fixed pricing?" toggle off.

Then in the Scope & Pricing tab, make sure to enter package prices to actually switch back to fixed pricing.

Once done, click Save & Continue, and then Publish to submit your service for admin's approval.

Frequently asked questions

Do customers pay when they request a quote?
No. A quote request is just a message with their answers. They pay only when they accept your custom offer.

Where do I find quote requests?
In your Legiit inbox. Each request shows up as a conversation with that customer.

Can I talk to the customer before sending a price?
Yes. Reply in the conversation and send your custom offer once you have everything you need.

Can customers use promo codes on a quote?
No. Promo codes can't be applied to custom offers.

Can I switch a live service from fixed prices to Get a Quote?
Yes. Edit the service, remove fixed prices from your packages and click Save and Continue, then Publish. The switch goes live once it's approved.
