Coach Search Page Algorithm

Best practices to make your profile shine on Leland

Updated over 3 months ago

Our goal with the Leland search page is to make sure that our customers are seeing the coaches that are most fit to deliver the services they need and to help our deserving coaches increase their visibility on the platform. This is what makes Leland special. We help customers find the best coach for them.

šŸ’” Here are a few best practices that you can do to both increase your ranking in the search results AND optimize your profile for effectiveness when you do get views:

  1. Create a robust coach category listing. Make sure that the information you provide is meaningful to the specific audience of that category. Relatedly, build packages that are category-specific. We’ve found that packages are an effective way of capturing leads because of the clear explanations of what’s included/what the value add is.

  2. Craft a targeted, engaging headline that helps you stand out. As your school and company are now automatically displayed under your headline, we encourage you to focus on other key differentiators. Here are a few headlines that we love:

    1. "First Gen/Immigrant and Storytelling Expert"

    2. "Perfect Coach For Underdogs"

    3. ā€œArmy Veteran // Founder // Expert in M7 Admissionsā€

    4. "Non-Traditional Stanford MBA/Harvard MPP | Editing Essays and Shaping Stories"

    5. ā€œGreat for Non-Target Undergrads and Deferred Applicantsā€

  3. Be thoughtful about your qualifications for each category and what will resonate with customers looking for a coach in that space. Make sure to be descriptive. Clients want to know why they should work with you and have a clear understanding as to why you are qualified to coach them.

  4. Get reviews from every customer that you help. Reviews are one of the best ways to increase clients' trust and willingness to pay.

  5. Respond promptly to customers who message you or send intro call requests. The time that it takes you to respond to the first message directly impacts your ranking.

  6. Carefully consider the categories you choose to prioritize and focus on the areas in which you are the most qualified to coach.

  7. Host and event related to a category for which you coach.

  8. Turn intro calls into clients. Once a client has booked an intro call, they are demonstrating an intent to purchase. Closing leads is an important part of the algorithm because we’ve found that our best coaches are those who truly try to provide a ā€œwhite gloveā€ experience to clients.
