Logging your time accurately is essential to running your coaching practice on Leland. All coaching work, whether it happens live on a call or asynchronously, needs to be recorded in the platform. This is how your work is tracked and how you get paid. If it’s not logged, it’s not billable, and we want to make sure you are always compensated for the support you provide.
As a note, you do not need to log time hour by hour for packages. Rather, just mark when all elements of the package have been completed.
Asynchronous work is a core part of coaching and is just as valuable as live sessions. Reviewing resumes, providing essay feedback, outlining interview responses, sending prep notes, designing study plans, and recording strategy walkthroughs are all meaningful forms of coaching — and they are all billable. Many clients actually prefer async support because it allows them to make progress between sessions and keep momentum moving.
To keep things smooth for both you and your clients, log time as you go rather than saving it up for later. This makes billing transparent, keeps progress clear, and ensures you’re never rushing to remember what you worked on.
In short: if you did work that supports the client’s progress, log it. Your expertise, time, and thoughtfulness matter — and the platform is designed to make sure you’re compensated for every part of the coaching experience, not just the live conversation.
