Reviews on Leland

Updated over 2 months ago

The Review feature helps coaches gather authentic feedback from clients and event attendees while helping future customers make informed decisions. Reviews are an important part of building trust, improving your offerings, and growing your practice on Leland.

This guide explains why reviews matter, how the review process works, compliance requirements, and best practices for managing reviews effectively.

Why Reviews Matter

Reviews play a critical role in helping customers evaluate and trust your services.

They help build trust and credibility

  • Prospective clients rely heavily on reviews to evaluate whether to work with a coach or attend an event.

  • A strong base of authentic reviews signals legitimacy and experience.

  • A larger number of reviews gives a more complete and reliable picture of your services.

  • Customers tend to trust profiles with consistent, genuine feedback over profiles with very few reviews.

Mixed feedback strengthens credibility

  • It is normal—and healthy—to receive a range of feedback.

  • Profiles with only perfect 5-star reviews can sometimes appear less credible.

  • Honest, balanced feedback demonstrates transparency and builds trust with prospective clients.

Reviews help you improve

  • Reviews provide valuable insight into what is working well and where you can refine your approach.

How Customers Leave Reviews

Customers can leave reviews in several ways:

After a coaching session

  • Clients will see a prompt to leave a review after receiving coaching.

In their Leland dashboard

  • Clients can submit a review in their messaging portal once a session has occurred.

During/after an event

  • Attendees can submit a rating directly within the event interface.

  • Attendees will see a prompt to leave a review at the conclusion of the event.

Via your direct review link

  • You can share your personal review link (found in the “Reviews” tab of your profile).

  • Any client or event attendee can use this link to submit a review if they have not already done so.

    • To contact event attendees for a review after an event has taken place, use the Email all attendees event feature to share your review link located within the Free Events tab

You may also include instructions or screenshots in your event materials to remind attendees how to leave feedback.

How to Feature Reviews

Coaches can select up to 3 reviews to highlight their strengths. These featured reviews will appear at the top of your profile.

To select your featured reviews, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Reviews tab

  2. Browse through “My reviews” to locate the review(s) you’d like to feature

  3. Click the three dots (•••) to reveal the dropdown menu

  4. Select Feature

Review Source Tags

Reviews include context about the type of engagement, helping future clients understand the reviewer’s experience.

Examples of review source tags include:

  • Attended event: [Event Name]

  • Received coaching for: [Category]

  • Purchased package: [Package Name]

This context helps make reviews more meaningful and informative.

Best Practices for Coaches

Following these practices will help you build a strong, credible review profile:

Encourage honest feedback

  • Invite attendees to leave reviews after sessions or events.

  • Focus on encouraging authenticity rather than asking specifically for positive reviews.

Make review collection part of your workflow

  • Mention reviews briefly at the end of your event.

  • Include your review link in follow-up communications if appropriate.

Use feedback as a learning tool

  • Pay attention to recurring themes.

  • Reviews often highlight opportunities for meaningful improvement.

Respond professionally and constructively

  • If you receive critical feedback, approach it as an opportunity to learn and improve.

  • Professional responses reinforce trust and credibility.

Focus on long-term trust

  • Authentic, transparent feedback builds stronger credibility than attempting to curate only positive reviews.

Compliance and Eligibility Requirements

Leland’s review policies align with FTC guidelines on consumer reviews and endorsements, which are designed to ensure transparency and prevent misleading practices.

Who can leave a review

Customers may leave a review if they have participated in a legitimate Leland service experience, including:

  • Paid coaching sessions

  • Discounted sessions

  • Complimentary or courtesy sessions

  • Hosted events

These are all considered valid service experiences and are eligible for reviews.

Who cannot leave a review

Individuals who have only completed an introductory call, have not participated in an event, or have not had an actual coaching session are not eligible to leave a review.

Review integrity and moderation

To maintain trust and comply with regulations:

  • Coaches and hosts cannot delete or suppress reviews directly.

  • Reviews must reflect authentic customer experiences and cannot be selectively removed simply because they are negative.

  • Clients and event attendees may edit or remove their reviews at any time. Coaches are encouraged to address feedback constructively and work with individuals to resolve concerns, but may not offer compensation or incentives in exchange for changing or removing a review.

Our team can investigate and take appropriate action if a review contains:

  • Factually incorrect information

  • Content that violates platform policies

  • Harassment, spam, or inappropriate content

To request a review investigation, please submit a request through the Coach Support Hub.
