Users have three options when creating their own activities. In this guide we will look at option three - the auto-generate option.

Additional Options to Create Activities in DSC

1. Using external documents with online Answer Key (see guide Creating Activities Using Answer Key Only for Teachers).

2. Uploading PDF documents with online Answer Key (see guide Creating Activities Using Uploaded Document for Teachers).

3. Creating Activities from DSC Action Banks - Manually or using Auto-Generate (see also the guide Creating Activities Manually Using the DSC Action Banks).

When creating an activity, users can use the auto-generate option to add actions to a new or existing activity. This allows the platform to create an activity that includes actions that have been filtered by grade level, subject, course, standard and DOK level. ELA actions can also be filtered by reading passages. After selecting the specific criteria for the desired actions, the platform will automatically generate and add actions to the activity.

Please scroll down to view step-by-step instructions

1. Select District Activities (what District Administrators see), My School Activities (what School Administrators see), or My Activities (what teachers see, also used in the example below) from the left menu.

2. Select the Add Learning Activity button.

3. Select the Activity Builder button.

4. Select the Auto-Generate button.

5. Fill in the activity title, grade, subject, course (if applicable), and activity type.

6. Click the Continue button.

7. Make sure to verify your Source. If you need to change it, use the drop down menu to select a different source. You will be selecting actions from this action bank (District Admins will give School Admins access to specific action banks. School Admins will give teachers access to specific action banks).

8. Click on the filter button to select additional filters. This is where you will filter actions by standard.

NOTE: Student action type and DOK level can be selected here or during the next step. Once you have selected your standards click the Close button.

9. To filter Language Arts actions by reading passage, click on the Passage drop down menu.

10. Enter the number of desired actions for each standard in the Requested Actions box.

11. Click on the underlined number in the Available Actions box for advanced options.

12. The Advanced option displays the number of actions available for each action type and DOK level. Enter the desired number for each action type and DOK level.

13. Click Continue after entering the desired numbers for each action.

14. The total student actions requested will be visible at the bottom of the request card.

15. To add these selected actions to your activity, click the Build Activity button.

Once the selected actions are automatically generated and added to the activity you can:

  • Preview the Activity

  • Change the Status (Active, Inactive or Schedule the Activity; teacher role only)

  • Set Security Features (Hide Student Reports or Enable a Secure Responder)

  • Add Student Directions

  • Reorder, Shuffle, Remove or Add Additional Actions

  • Give Access or Share the Activity (Administrators)

  • Assign the Activity or Share with Selected Colleagues (Teachers)
