Introduction

Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro are new models from OpenAI that offer high-quality video with integrated audio, realistic physics, and smoother camera work. It excels at multi-shot sequences that maintain characters, props, lighting and camera stability, for scenes that feel immersive and continuous.

Sora 2 is great for fast, high-quality outputs with great physics and audio. Sora 2 Pro takes things further with 1080p video, perfect for complex, cinematic scenes that demand tighter motion, better texture and camera continuity.

Features

Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro offer:

  • Up to 12 seconds of video

  • 720p and 1080p output (Sora 2 Pro only)

  • Start frame compatibility.

  • Better physical modelling: Rigid bodies, rebounds, buoyancy, fewer “teleports” and morphs when prompts get ambitious.

  • State persistence across shots: Multi‑shot sequences maintain characters, props, lighting, and camera continuity more reliably.

  • Integrated audio: Dialogue, SFX, and ambient sound generated in lockstep with visuals.

How to use Sora 2 on Leonardo.Ai

Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro can be accessed as Video models.

Text to Video

  1. Navigate to the Video tool.

  2. On the top of the left sidebar, click on Model and select Sora 2 or Sora 2 Pro.

  3. Select your preferred Generation Mode - 720p or 1080p for Sora 2 Pro.

  4. Set your desired video duration - 4, 8 or 12 seconds.

  5. Enter your text prompt and click Generate.

Tips for creating seamless videos with Start Frames:

  • Craft moody, cinematic shots with Lucid Realism, then bring them to life as a Start frame.

  • Longer videos may offer smoother but potentially slower transitions. A shorter duration may offer much faster but potentially less smoother transitions - consider subtler transitions for shorter videos.

Token Costs

Please note that due to the minimum token cost exceeding the daily free user allowance of 150 tokens, Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro are only accessible with a paid plan.

FAQs

What’s the difference between Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro?

Sora 2 is faster with great physics/audio and solid continuity at 720p. Pro prioritizes fidelity: 1080p, tighter motion, better texture, and steadier multi‑shot sequences.

Are Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro available to free users?

Due to high running and token costs, Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro are unfortunately unavailable to free users, and only accessible to paid users.

How long can my video be?

4, 8, or 12 seconds.

What resolutions are supported?

  • Sora 2: 720p (1280×720 landscape; 720×1280 portrait).

  • Sora 2 Pro: 1080p (1920×1080).

Can I generate audio automatically?

Yes, the sora models have integrated audio in video generations. Dialogue, ambient sound, and SFX are generated in sync with visuals. Include brief cues or lines in your prompt to guide it.

Does Sora handle multi‑shot prompts?

Yes. It’s great at maintaining characters, props, lighting, and camera work between shots.

Are there start or end frames?

Currently, only start frames are supported with the Sora models.

What are the token costs of generating with Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro?

Cost scales with duration and resolution, formatted in the table above and below:

Sora 2

  • 4 seconds: 400 tokens

  • 8 seconds: 800 tokens

  • 12 seconds: 1,200 tokens

Sora 2 Pro (720p)

  • 4 seconds: 1,200 tokens

  • 8 seconds: 2,400 tokens

  • 12 seconds: 3,600 tokens

Sora 2 Pro (1080p)

  • 4 seconds: 2,000 tokens

  • 8 seconds: 4,000 tokens

  • 12 seconds: 6,000 tokens

Can I use the Cameos feature?

Cameos are not able to be used on Leonardo.Ai

When should I use Sora 2 vs Sora 2 Pro?

Sora 2 is recommended for Fast ideation, social posts, pre‑viz, motion tests, and drafts where speed matters and 720p is sufficient.

Sora 2 Pro is a heavy-hitter, best for hero shots, cinematic sequences, and production‑leaning clips that need tight motion, fine textures (skin, fabric, etc), and 1080p output.

Due to the token expense of this model, we recommend experimenting and iterating on your prompts with less expensive video models, so you can have more confidence in the outcome when using a model like Sora 2 or Sora 2 Pro.
