About Internationalization
Internationalization is the process by which Lessonly is updated to meet the needs of learners in many countries. When Lessonly is internationalized, certain elements of the user interface––the login page, the navigation menu, company settings, and assignment notifications––are translated into a language other than English.
In the example below, Lessonly's UI has been translated into French.
Note: Lesson contents are not translated. Your training content must be created in the language you prefer. Need a translation services provider? Lessonly recommends LTC Language Solutions.
Supported Languages
The following languages are supported:
Chinese (Simplified)
Chinese (Traditional)
Dutch
Filipino
French
Canadian French
German
Indonesian
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Portuguese
Russian
Spanish (Basic)
Swedish
Turkish (Türkçe)
Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt)
Languages that are read from right to left such as Arabic and Chinese are supported for the learner-facing UI. They are not supported on the admin/creator side of the lesson builder.
Creators may experience issues when trying to format right-to-left languages in the lesson builder. Our Services team does not build content in right-to-left languages.
Manually Update the Interface Language
To update the interface language, navigate to Settings by selecting the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner, then select My Account (for learners, this will be their only viewable option).
From My Account, select the drop-down menu under the Interface Language header, then select the language you prefer.
Update a User's Interface Language
Users with people management permissions can update the interface of the learners they supervise. To do so, navigate to the user's edit page. Under Locale (Language), select a language from the drop-down menu, then select Save. When the user next logs in, the interface will be rendered in the language you selected.
Set UI Language with the Bulk User Import Tool
With the bulk import tool, you can update the UI language for many users at once. Lessonly's .csv template includes a column titled Locale.
Select a language code from the list below, and then add it to the user's corresponding Locale cell.

Troubleshooting
Q. The language of my Lessonly UI changed. How can I restore it to my preferred language?
A. There are several ways your preferred language may be inadvertently changed; the most common occurs when one user selects a shared Lessonly link from another user with a different UI language. Take this scenario for example:
Frank Jones (an admin) uses Lessonly in English, but his coworker Bruno Duarte (a creator) uses Lessonly in Portuguese. Bruno wants Frank to review a lesson he created, so he sends Frank a share link to his new lesson. Frank clicks the link, reviews the lesson, and then exits Lessonly. The next time he logs in, however, his Lessonly UI is now rendered in Portuguese.
This mishap is due to a caching issue in the user's browser. Follow these steps to revert the UI language to its former settings.
Log out of Lessonly.
Restart your browser, then log back into Lessonly.
Resume your work! ✌️
