Autofill lets you upload your client's financial documents and have the AI pull out key business details and fill in the application forms. Instead of typing data across from bank statements, tax returns, or financial reports, you drag and drop the documents and let the platform do the work. It cuts the manual data entry on a deal, and it works for brokers filling out applications on behalf of clients as well as clients filling out their own applications through the portal.
Click through the walkthrough above to see the whole flow, then follow the steps below.
What Autofill does
When you upload financial documents, the AI reads and extracts information from them: things like business revenue, expenses, legal business name, EIN, owner details, and other key data points that lenders need. It then uses that data to populate the relevant fields in your application forms. The underlying technology is OCR, optical character recognition, but in the product it is called Autofill.
Step-by-step: how to use AI Autofill
Step 1: Go to the business documents section
From your portal, open the business you are working on. Go to the Documents section for that business. This is where you upload files and start the AI extraction.
Step 2: Click Autofill
You will see an Autofill option on the page. Click it to open the AI document upload interface.
Step 3: Upload your documents
Drag and drop any financial documents into the upload area. You can upload documents such as:
Bank statements
Tax returns, business and personal
Profit and loss statements
Balance sheets
Business licenses
Articles of incorporation
Any other financial or business documentation relevant to the deal
After uploading, you can also give the AI a bit of context about the deal, for example what type of financing the client is looking for, the business industry, or any other detail that helps it read the application.
Step 4: Click Start AI
Once your documents are uploaded and you have added any deal context, click Start AI to begin extraction. The AI reads through your uploaded documents and pulls out the relevant data.
Step 5: Review the extracted data
The AI fills in the application forms for you or your client. When extraction finishes, you will see the form fields populated with data from your documents.
Important: Review the auto-filled data before submitting. The AI is accurate on clear documents, and it is still worth checking that the extracted information matches the source, especially for revenue figures, business legal name, and owner information. Click any field to correct it.
Step 6: Click Done
Once you have reviewed the extracted data, click Done to finish the autofill. The data is saved in the application and ready for submission to lenders.
Tips for best results
Upload clear, legible documents. The higher the quality of the document, the more accurate the extraction. Avoid blurry scans or photos taken at an angle.
Use PDF format when possible. PDFs tend to produce the most consistent extraction results.
Provide deal context. When the AI asks about the deal, give it useful details: industry, funding amount, purpose. This helps it prioritise the right data.
Upload multiple documents at once. The more you give the AI, the more of the application it can fill.
Common questions
Q: What types of documents can I upload?
A: Any financial or business documents: bank statements, tax returns, P&Ls, balance sheets, business licenses, articles of incorporation, and more. If it contains data relevant to a business financing application, upload it.
Q: Does the AI fill out the entire application?
A: It fills what it can from the documents you provide. Some fields still need manual input if the information is not in the uploaded documents.
Q: Is my client's data secure?
A: Yes. Documents are encrypted in transit and at rest, and protected with 256-bit encryption and SOC 2 compliance. The data is used to populate the application and match with lenders.
Q: Can my clients use this feature themselves?
A: Yes. If your clients are filling out their own application through your branded portal, they can use Autofill the same way.
Q: What if the AI extracts something incorrectly?
A: You can edit any field after the AI fills it in. Click the field and correct the value before submitting.
