If you're one of our loyal customers, you'll know that every bag of food we make has a phrase similar to either of these:

  • Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Life's Abundance All Life Stage Dog Food provides complete and balanced nutrition for All Life Stages.

  • Life’s Abundance All Life Stage Cat Food is formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by American Association of Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) Cat Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages.”

What does that mean?

The first statement means the food has successfully completed a feeding trial which looks at the ability of a food to convey adequate nutritional value to the dogs consuming it throughout all the different stages of life.

The other statement tells consumers that our food meets or exceeds every nutrient level that AAFCO has established as necessary for maintenance, pregnancy, lactation and growth and that the nutrients are present in the correct ratios.

So who's AAFCO? It's a voluntary membership association of local, state and federal agencies charged by law to regulate the sale and distribution of animal foods and medicines. So, when you see that language on our products, you can be confident we're honoring established guidelines for canine and feline nutrition.
