Based on the majority of available data, there's uniform agreement that a dog’s diet should not be vegetarian. While people can thrive on a vegetarian diet, dogs cannot for many reasons, which include:

 1. Dogs require a nutrient that is only found in animal fat, known as arachadonic acid.
 2. Dogs’ intestines are much shorter than those of people. Vegetable protein requires a longer time in the intestine for digestion.
 3. Animal proteins are better utilized by dog than vegetable proteins are.

Our view is that the vegetarian foods available on the market may be technically complete and balanced, they are not offering the level of nutrition that dogs need to thrive.
