Pet foods can be sold for life stages such as puppy, kitten and adult. They can also be prepared the Life's Abundance way, with most of our foods being 100% nutritionally balanced for both puppies and adults or both kittens and adults.

When pet food first started to be sold, there was no difference between foods. Puppies ate the same as adults. The level of nutrition was not very high and puppies did not do well. Eventually the National Research Council made nutrient recommendations for puppies, adult dogs, kittens and adult cats. Puppies and kittens required higher levels of nutrients than adults.

Some companies created puppy and kitten foods, increasing many nutrients to accommodate their higher nutrient requirement. Other companies developed one food with the nutrient levels high enough for puppies and kittens and adults. Lifestyle foods for the stages of a pet’s life proved to be the most successful way to market dog and cat food, increasing the number of foods on the shelf.

Life's Abundance is formulated to meet the needs for growth and adult dogs and cats. It’s nutritional profile exceeds that of AAFCO’s nutritional profiles for both growth and maintenance. It is an optimum diet for both the young and healthy, as well as older dogs and cats.
