The natural smoke flavor in our Turkey & Berry Chewies and Pork & Apple Sausage dog treats is captured by bottling the condensation droplets that result when wood is burned. The liquid smoke that we use is filtered to minimize the presence of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). This generally represents a reduction of over three times that of grilling with wood.

The important note is that the amount of liquid smoke used for each batch is minuscule and considered to be safe. To reach unsafe PAH ingestion levels an individual dog would have to eat thousands of pounds of treats.
