A general rule when transitioning to a new food is to not do so too abruptly. The best thing you can do is slowly change out the old food for the new food. This will minimize any symptoms they could experience.

Days 1 & 2 = for each meal, mix 3/4 of old food and 1/4 of new food

Days 3 & 4 = for each meal, mix 1/2 of old food and 1/2 of new food

Days 5 & 6 = for each meal, mix 3/4 of new food and 1/4 of old food

Day 7 = fully transitioned to new food

This is a transition for a 1 week timeframe. Keep an eye on your pet while you’re switching to the new food. Some dogs or cats may still experience some G.I. symptoms, and you may need to adjust your pace.
